Esther Jacob joined our team as the School Nurse for the 2017-2018 school year. Esther graduated with honors from the University Of Maryland School Of Nursing in 2010. Before graduating from nursing school, Esther already had a successful practice as a labor doula and childbirth educator. She began her nursing career as a step-down critical care nurse at Holy Cross Hospital of Silver Spring. In 2016, Esther transitioned to a position as a nurse reviewer for a startup insurance company. From her work as a doula, to her years of experience in hospital nursing, Esther has worked with patients and families across the lifespan and from diverse backgrounds. In each of her positions, Esther has taken a collaborative role in developing and implementing new systems to improve the healthcare environment and patient outcomes. Joining the Torah School team gave Esther the opportunity to bring her healthcare experience and passion for health education to her own community. “Evaluating and meeting the health and safety needs of our students is a dynamic process. I look forward to continuing to work with our students, their families, and the staff here in school to ensure that we are anticipating and meeting the needs of our students from a nurturing, evidence-based perspective.” Esther and her husband Aaron, a Physician Assistant, have made Silver Spring their home since 2007. They have three children: two current Torah School students and one future Torah School student.
